Plenty of sun and wind but only the mackerel were biting
Well we attempted to go fishing and the conditions inshore of the mouth of the Dart were good but as soon as we cleared the headland by the Mewstone we were into very short and steep seas. Even so there were a few boats over the East Banks fishing for Bass, although to be fair these were mainly the commercial lads. Since I was at the helm I was enjoying pushing through the seas that were sending some water over the cabin roof.
However, Stephen was wearing his 'sensible' head and whilst we could get there, it would be too uncomfortable for me when fishing. So we pushed back towards the Blackstone before finally giving up the attempt and returned to calm waters inside the headland towards the mouth of the river.
We decided that we may have a go at fishing under power and Steve shipped our rear tiller and were trawled up and down for a while before deciding to call it a day. Whilst no fish were landed (other than the mackerel, and we don't count them) we did see again the excellent sea keeping capacity of our 'new' boat. It really does outperform the Quicksilver.
